We invite you to join our incredible Maras Moray Chinchero Tour, a fascinating experience that combines the natural beauty of the Sacred Valley with the rich traditional culture of the region. During this tour, you’ll be amazed by breathtaking views of majestic mountains and explore traditional routes that lead to communities where Quechua is spoken, preserving their customs and typical attire.
In the company of our local guides, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the residents of these communities, who will welcome you with their colorful costumes and show you how they work their fields using traditional methods. You’ll also get up close to llamas and alpacas and learn the ancestral process of spinning and dyeing wool, using natural dyes, just as the ancient Incas did. This region boasts exceptionally fertile land and was a vital agricultural production center during the Inca Empire.
During the tour, you’ll pass through picturesque colonial villages and explore vibrant local markets, where locals offer traditional products and unique crafts. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to visit impressive archaeological sites scattered along the route.
If you’re in Cusco, you can’t miss the opportunity to join this tour. Being at a lower altitude than the city of Cusco, it will help you gradually acclimate to the altitude, ensuring a comfortable and safe experience.
Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the natural and cultural beauty of the Sacred Valley with our Maras Moray Chinchero Tour. Book now and experience an unforgettable journey in this magical corner of the Andes!
We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 a.m. and then drive for approximately 1 hour to Chinchero. There, we will visit the archaeological site, where you will see llamas and alpacas and have the privilege of learning about the spinning and dyeing process of wool, using natural dyes. You’ll also appreciate the way they weave following ancient traditions because the people still preserve their culture alive as in the Inca era.
Next, we will drive for 30 minutes to the Salt Mines, which have about 3,000 pools fed by a hypersaline underground spring, originated about 110 million years ago during the formation of the Andes Mountains. There, you will see the process and evaporation of water to obtain salt. Then, we will drive for about 30 minutes to the archaeological site of Moray, where you will see impressive circular agricultural terraces. At first glance, they resemble amphitheaters built in stunning natural depressions. Each of these small terraces has its microclimate, depending on the depth of each one. Moray may have been used as a laboratory to determine the ideal conditions for growing each species. Finally, we will return to Cusco.
