We will pick you up from your hotel at approximately 12:30 pm. From there, we will head to the Plaza de Armas of Cusco, where we will visit the Cathedral. Then, we will walk from the Plaza de Armas to Qoricancha, which was one of the most important religious centers of the Incas where they worshiped the Sun God. The stone constructions here exhibit even better precision than Machu Picchu; it was covered in gold before the Spanish conquest. From Qoricancha, we will head to Avenida Sol and take transportation to the impressive Inca site of Sacsayhuaman, a majestic place where you will appreciate rocks up to 9 meters high and weighing more than 120 tons. They all fit together with incredible precision; the magnificent zigzag walls are a great attraction. Then, we will go to Quenqo, which means labyrinth. This was an Inca Ceremonial Center whose constructions were dedicated to Mother Earth (Pachamama) and contain the most impressive carved rocks. After that, we will head to Puca Pucara, known as the red fortress. This place was also used as a military control center and was a resting place in the time of the Incas. Finally, we will visit Tambomachay, where the constructions were used to worship the God of Water. Some interesting aqueducts, canals, and fountains sculpted in stone are still preserved there. Finally, we will return to Cusco.
We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 a.m. to head to the Sacred Valley, for about 1 hour to the archaeological site of Pisaq. There you will see impressive agricultural terraces and interesting stone work with clay, where you can enjoy and learn about the history of the Incas. Then, we will return to the town of Pisaq, where we will visit the craft market, then we will head to Urubamba for approximately 1 hour, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch, then we will head to the fortress of Ollantaytambo for 30 minutes. Once we arrive at Ollantaytambo, we will visit the interesting village called “Última Aldea Inca viviente,” where the urban area was built by the Incas. The village has several water channels, some of them passing underneath the houses. Finally, we will take the train to Machu Picchu pueblo, which is located at 2000 meters above sea level, for 90 minutes where we will have dinner at a local restaurant. We will spend the night in a hotel. We recommend going to bed early so you can fully enjoy Machu Picchu the next day.
We will wake up early this morning to be one of the first people to enter the Inca Citadel. We will enjoy a delicious breakfast, leave the hotel, and go directly to take the bus to be one of the first ones to go up to Machu Picchu at 5:30 am. This will allow us to see a spectacular sunrise at Machu Picchu, which is truly a magical and unforgettable sight. We will have a guided tour of 2 to 3 hours where your guide will share the history and point out the best places to get the most incredible photos. After that, you will have free time to explore the urban area on your own (please note that once you leave the citadel of Machu Picchu, you will not be able to re-enter on your own).
Then, you will take the bus from Machu Picchu to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) where you can appreciate the town and have free time to visit the town of Aguas Calientes (optional). In the afternoon at the indicated time, you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where you will meet the driver and return to the city of Cusco. Your return will be directly to your hotel.
